IntroductionThis help page is here to guide you through the Projects service. This is a searchable database of external nationally funded learning and teaching projects in the UK.To do a general search of the database, enter the term you wish to search for in the box labelled "Search for a project here...". Press "Search" to get the project records where this term appears anywhere in that record. To get all the project records, leave the box blank. To restrict your search to those projects hosted by a particular institution, select that institution from the drop-down list labelled "Host Institution". To restrict your search to those projects affiliated to a particular Higher Education Academy subject centre, select that subject centre from the drop-down list labelled "Subject Centre" There are alternative ways of accessing the database that may be more useful for your needs. BrowseIf you want to see what projects exist in the database under certain classifications such as Region and Policy Theme, you can click on "Browse through the projects". This is useful if you don't know exactly what you're looking for.More search optionsIf you want to see more search options, click on the "More search options" link. You can then hide these again by clicking on the "Less search options" link.Regional coverage To restrict your search to those projects run in a particular geographical area of the UK, select from the drop-down list of UK regions. This search is hierarchical so selecting UK will find projects classified as UK, and also those classified as somewhere within the UK such as Wales or Yorkshire and Humberside. Main Theme If you want to identify projects that are focussed on particular policy themes you should select the appropriate keyword from the drop-down list. Subject This field will help you identify subject-specific projects. You can use either of the two subject classifications available (or both). The HE subjects list is the JACS classification. The FE subjects list is the LearnDirect classification. You can choose to find projects that have been classified using the term you enter or any more specific (narrower) term in the classification hierarchy. This is the default option. Alternatively, you can choose to find projects that been classified with precisely the term you enter. Finally, there is the option to just search for the text that you enter in the subject field without worrying about where that text may exist in the classifications. Clicking on the "get term" link will bring up a view of the classification that you wish to use. You can then browse through the classification and select your desired term by using the "Paste term to form" link at the top of the page. When you have specified the criteria upon which you want to do the search, click on the "Search" button to run the search. |
